I remember the first time I was deferred to in a meeting where the folks actually wanted to hear what I had to say. I struggled with accepting that I was good enough (all of a sudden) to be listened to. I had called that meeting and invited people I needed to help me resolve an issue (and whom I respected). And, here, they were respecting ME! It took me a while but I cam to realize that if I respected them and they choose to listen to me, they must be really smart! I think of this event on occasion and then I think about all the things I have gotten done since I accepted that confidence. You deserve it and now other are giving credit to you for your capabilities. I hope, soon, you can say “Thank You” with confidence instead of expressing concern about whether ‘they’ are right. “They”, very often, are.
